Discussion Hub: Building Engineers

The mission of the Building Engineers Committee is to attract, retain, and grow an educated, qualified, and inspired pool of engineering professionals serving the commercial real estate industry.

AGENDA

Chair: Suresh Balgobind, MECM, SMA, FMA, RPA, LEED GA. (Cushman & Wakefield)
Co-Chair: Matt Montanez (UG2), and Ryan Wilcoxen (JLL)

• Revisit the goals of the Committee and discuss the best ways to serve BOMA members
• provide programming and education through BOMA and BOMI, also offering volunteers to revise the SMT, SMA and FMA coursebooks.
• potential collaboration or partnership with ASHREA, ESCO, OSHA, NFPA and/or FEMA
• networking and collaboration opportunities with other engineering and property management professionals
• outreach to local schools and companies to bolster the pipeline of CRE engineers.
• discover, affect, and share best practices in the Engineering field, maximizing building operations and efficiencies.
• participate in advocacy on industry related issues with BOMA, AHJ’s, Fire Marshalls and other code enforcement agencies.
• provide support and resources to BOMA locals in their efforts to create Engineering Committees.
• develop leadership skills for engineering professionals.
• increase engineer attendance at the BOMA Annual Conference & Expo by adding Engineering specific educational track and creating this committee.
